Children travelling alone
With our service for unaccompanied children, your child is in safe hands before, during and after the flight, until they meet at their destination.
Everything you need to know:
Our Unaccompanied Minor service ensures that your child will be introduced to cabin crew, accompanied at all stages and assisted with any luggage. At the final destination, the child will be handed over to the receiving person (who must have written permission from a parent/guardian) at the gate. Identification will be taken from the receiving person.
- For children aged 5-11, you must contact customer service. Regular child fare applies.
- For children aged 12-15, you can book online and then must contact customer service for assistance service. Regular youth fare applies. Please complete and sign all three copies of the Unaccompanied Minor Form before departure and present them when checking in at the airport.
- The parent/guardian or an authorized adult must accompany/take the child to check-in and must remain there until the flight has departed. Please note that this must be the same person listed on the form!
- At some airports it may be necessary to accompany the child to the gate. Ask about this at the check-in counter when you arrive at the airport.
The parent/guardian must complete a document with the child's personal details, itinerary and the name of the person who will drop the child off at departure and the person who will meet the child at arrival. Download, complete and print our form for unaccompanied minors and present it to the airport staff when the child checks in. You can avoid delays by ensuring the entire form is completed and bringing all three printed copies to check-in at the airport.
- Make sure the child has their essential belongings in their carry-on luggage.
- The parent/guardian or an authorized adult takes the child to the check-in counter at least two hours before departure in Copenhagen and Arlanda (at least one hour before departure at Karlstad Airport). Bring the three signed forms for unaccompanied minors with you.
- The parent/guardian must help the child check in and drop off their luggage.
- The parent/guardian must show a valid ID at check-in and remain at the airport until the child's plane has departed.
- The check-in staff will inform you of the local procedures that follow. We do not allow unaccompanied minors on the flight if there is uncertainty about landing at the destination due to bad weather or other extraordinary circumstances. In such extreme circumstances, you will be informed by the check-in staff.
A member of the cabin crew will meet the child on board and look after him or her throughout the flight. The child will be given something to eat and drink during the flight.
After landing, airport staff will meet the child at the aircraft and accompany him or her to the person who will pick up/meet the child at the arriving airport. The person who picks up the child must arrive at the terminal on time, be of legal age and have valid identification. This must be the same person listed on the form. Your child will always be accompanied in the event of a delay or other unforeseen event and we will keep the parent/guardian informed.
